Was it being a standalone thing that got in the way? The UI? The Adobe trying to get you to use their cloud service for everything? Where’d they lose you? 🏈

Plus having one app dedicated to one thing minimizes the UI clutter in a lot of cases, imo I know having the function built in could probably be a lot more convenient, but as a mobile user, I’m accustomed to switching apps in the name of limited memory management. Vectornator is its closest competitor, and it is meh at the best of times. I rely on Capture for the majority of my vector tracing. I made a suggestion last year that they could bundle an autotrace (and general scanning utility) with a materials/image manager.

Solution 1: Create A Manual Tracing The only real way to go about vector image tracing with Affinity Designer is to do so manually using the Pen Tool. Some years ago I had to mass convert some work I'd done in Clip Studio Paint to vector format and that function (and Illustrator) was a nighmare! Never going back to Adobe, even if the utility's free, cause Inkscape is as well. You can do multiple types of tracing and cover them over to Designer as SVG. Anyway, I've tried the autotracer in Inkscape and am impressed with it. It worked, but now Designer has that feature. I think a lot of the people who counter complain and say it’s not necessary or tel folks to go elsewhere just don’t use it or need it. This was literally THE feature I had hoped for. No one can agree that there is one autotrace to rule them all. So many other programs with this feature are clunky or ineffective. Folks like me just want to see a autotrace or live trace or vectorize feature done well and in the native program. Serif has done an incredible job with their suite. Drawing shapes organically and tracing them and using the paint bucket is a super simple and effective way for me personally to work. And this is a humongous part of my work flow. With a huge toolset specifically engineered for creative and photography professionals, it has everything you need to edit and retouch images, create full-blown, multi-layered compositions or beautiful raster paintings, and so much more.It’s interesting to see folks reply to requests for this feature, saying it’s not important, or that other options exist so stop crying etc.
